The 2004 presidential scorecard is incomplete but early action shows the American voters that Senator John Kerry has been unable to shed the flip-flop image pinned on him by the Bush Administration. Credit “W” and his group of political henchmen for their spirited attacks on the Junior Senator from Massachusetts; they have cleverly edited out damning portions of previous speeches and weaved them into a winning message for George W. Bush. The tactic has kept Kerry on the defensive. His continuous counterpunching prevents him from throwing a political haymaker that will thwart the Bush assault. We have to remember that Mr. Kerry has a history of slow campaign starts but in the end, he is standing in the winner’s circle.
