Arizona Offers Respite For President Bush

in Iowa and New Hampshire . Now the contest heads South where some pundits say he will stumble because or Southern based entrants, Senator John Edwards and former Four Star General Wesley Clark. There are seven battles ,including Arizona, on the political menu for Tuesday. The biggest prize at stake is Missouri which will net some fortunate campaigner, seventy four convention delegates. Kerry should do well despite his Boston Accent. Everyone admires a war hero and the Senator has found campaign rhythm. This corner predicts wins in Arizona, North Dakota, Delaware and possibly Missouri for the candidate who shown true grit throughout the contest. Here is another prediction; Wesley Clark will celebrate on Tuesday with at least one win and two strong second place finishes. The outcome of the South Carolina primary is difficult to predict because the state has a large Afro American population that may back fellow Afro American Al Sharpton and not native son, John Edwards. Also, Clark and Kerry have strong veteran support.



Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman¡¯s campaign may end after Tuesday¡¯s results. I know of no reporter who doesn¡¯t like of respect the genteel Senator. We all have come to respect Joe and Haddasah, his beautiful and supportive wife. She was in town last week to rally Joe¡¯s troops and add some ¡° Joe Momentum¡± to the campaign. Everyone in the room, in my opinion, could sense the inevitable but no one was ready to lower their head or concede defeat. Some scribes may write his political obituary on Wednesday but Joe will remain in the Senate where he will be thought of as a ¡°Mensch.¡± For the uninitiated Mensch is a Hebrew word used to describe a very special person.

Presidential Candidate Wesley Clark made a ¡°whistle Stop¡± at Kid¡¯s Park , 23rd Avenue near Camelback road, on Wednesday evening. The Arkansas Democrat promised, if elected, he would eliminate income tax for a family of four making an annual amount of $50,000 or less. The former general also promised to elevate minimum wage requirements to $7.00 per hour.
